Required Inspections for Residential Construction

The following inspections are required with no exceptions. Failure to contact this office for these inspections will result in the posting of a Stop Work Order and may require the removal of completed work so the proper inspection can be made.

Your cooperation in calling at least 24 hours in advance for these inspections is appreciated. The following information is required when scheduling an inspection:
permit number, type of inspection, address and or lot number (request for framing and final inspections may be faxed into the office). Failure to post address or lot number at the construction site could result in cancellation of the requested inspection.

  1. FOOTINGS - Prescribed soil conditions, depth of footers, piers, grade beams,
    sub-footers, step-downs, when ready to pour and reinforcing steel is tied in place.
     
  2. FRAMING AND INSULATION - When structure is ready for drywall lathe, paneling, when insulation is installed, HVAC systems and rough-in electric has been inspected, approved and sticker affixed.
     
  3. FINAL INSPECTION - When the structure including finishes are completed and ready to occupy; when final grading has been accomplished; when proper drainage is provided and the placement of sump pumps and downspouts have been made.

NOTE:

Project shall not be occupied until a final inspection has been made. Failure to obtain a certificate of occupancy from this office prior to occupancy of the structure may result in legal action and shall be subject to the penalties provided by KRS 198B.990 as listed in Section R-112.4, 2002 Kentucky Residential Code.
